I see that "Brokeback Mountain" got the top award at the Golden Globe award ceremony (funny, "golden globes" sounds like what a tawny-skinned woman would have under her shirt). I guess it's very artistic and sensitive and all that, but it's still not doing well at the box office.

I guess not all that many people want to watch a movie about two guys who ditch their wives and children so that they can push in each others' stools.

I don't have any desire to go watch a gay cowboy movie so they won't be getting my cash, but I'm not sure that it is true that its not doing well.

I have heard several times that it has been doing very well "revenue per screen" which is a much more accurate metric. I very much doubt it will beat Star Wars or Harry Potter, but it doesn't look like its bombing.

I'm not at all familiar with the metrics used to gauge a film's performance--I just looked up gross revenues and attendance.

You seem to know what you're talking about, though, so I'll accept your assessment. For the record, I didn't mean to intimate that it was bombing, just that it wasn't posting spectacular numbers, no matter how smitten Hollywood is with it.

Thanks for the imput.
